6th Consortium meeting in Katowice, Poland

June 2025

The Carbon4Minerals consortium convened for its 6th consortium meeting in Katowice, Poland, on June 3–4, 2025. Hosted by project partner Heidelberg Materials, the two-day event provided a valuable opportunity for in-depth technical exchange, strategic planning, and a closer examination of the pilot installations at an industrial scale.

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome from our hosts at Heidelberg Materials, followed by a series of presentations by Work Package leaders, who provided updates on the latest progress across the project. These sessions prompted productive discussions among the partners, particularly regarding the integration and testing of the Carbon4Minerals pilot technologies.

One of the highlights of the first day was the visit to Heidelberg Materials' cement plant in Górażdże, the largest cement plant in Europe. During the site tour, participants explored the cement kiln line and cement mills and had the unique opportunity to see the Carbon4Minerals Enforced Carbonation Reactor in operation. This pilot installation plays a key role in demonstrating the project’s approach to mineralisation of CO₂ in industrial environments.

The second day continued with further project updates and strategic planning for the next phase of activities. In the afternoon, partners visited the Ekocem Concrete Recycling Plant, another Heidelberg Materials facility. This visit provided insight into concrete recycling processes and their potential synergy with Carbon4Minerals technologies. The meeting concluded with an open discussion session, allowing partners to reflect on recent progress, share feedback, and align on the upcoming steps in the project.

Thanks to the whole Heidelberg Materials team for their generous hospitality and excellent organisation of the event. The on-site demonstrations and industrial context greatly enriched the discussions and strengthened collaboration among the partners. More updates on the Carbon4Minerals pilot installations will be shared soon—stay tuned!
