Carbon4Minerals at FMV Seminar on Carbon Capture

On 14 May 2025, the Carbon4Minerals project took part in the FMV Seminar: Carbon Capture, organised by Flanders Metals Valley and hosted at PwC Belgium’s offices in Brussels. The seminar brought together key stakeholders, technology providers, researchers, and industry experts to discuss the role of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies in the path towards a climate-neutral future.

Our project coordinator, Liesbeth Horckmans from VITO, introduced the Carbon4Minerals concept, highlighting how the project transforms CO₂ emissions from steel and non-ferrous industries into valuable construction materials. Our key technical partner, ArcelorMittal, showcased several pilot and demonstration initiatives in carbon capture, including amine scrubbing, highlighting the Carbon4Minerals pilot plant, currently targeting 2 kt/year CO₂ capture.

The FMV Seminar on Carbon Capture is part of a series of thematic sessions organised by Flanders Metals Valley, aimed at knowledge sharing and supporting the sustainable transformation of the metallurgical industry. This seminar provided a valuable platform for sharing technical knowledge, fostering collaborations, and aligning efforts between industry and research on the development of low-carbon technologies.
