VITO Presents Carbon4Minerals at FOA15 in Porto
We’re proud to share that Carbon4Minerals was featured at the 15th Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA15) conference, held in Porto, Portugal, from May 18 to 23, 2025. Representing the project, Marleen Rombouts from VITO presented a poster outlining recent advances in solid adsorption-based CO₂ capture technologies developed within the project framework.
The poster, titled “Post-Combustion CO₂ Capture Using Monolithic Zeolite 13X,” focused on the development of structured porous monoliths shaped from zeolite 13X powder, as a more efficient alternative to conventional sorbent beads for CO₂ capture in a Vacuum-Temperature Swing Adsorption (VTSA) process. Bench-scale tests showed improved performance, and a mobile pilot using real flue gases is planned for 2026, advancing Carbon4Minerals’ goal of turning captured CO₂ and industrial residues into construction materials.
The FOA15 conference, organised by the International Adsorption Society (IAS), is a globally respected scientific forum that has convened experts in adsorption since 1983. Known for its rigorous academic programme and strong industry engagement, FOA15 is a vital platform for sharing new research in adsorption science, environmental applications, catalysis, energy systems, and materials development.
We’re pleased that Carbon4Minerals was part of this vibrant exchange of ideas and thank our colleague at VITO for representing the project on the international stage.
