Carbon4Minerals at ICSBM 2025

Carbon4Minerals was presented at the 4th International Conference on Sustainable Building Materials (ICSBM 2025), held on 13 August 2025 in Eindhoven. The international conference brought together researchers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders working on sustainable construction materials.

Representing the project, Arne Peys from VITO delivered a presentation focusing on carbonatable clinkers produced from recycled concrete fines (RCF), supporting Carbon4Minerals’ research into circular and low-carbon construction materials.

The presentation, titled “The impact of recycled concrete fines quality on the burnability and reactive phase content of carbonatable clinkers,” was authored by A. Peys, L. Horckmans, and P. Nielsen. It explored how variations in RCF quality influence clinker burnability and the formation of reactive phases, which are key factors for enabling efficient mineral carbonation and CO₂ uptake.

The ICSBM conference provides an international platform for sharing advances in sustainable building materials and fostering collaboration between research and industry. The presentation contributed to ongoing scientific discussion on the use of recycled materials and mineral carbonation approaches in the development of more sustainable construction materials.
