Carbon4Minerals Partner at 2nd MC3 Conference
Carbon4Minerals consortium member - RWTH Aachen University - will present at the 2nd International conference on Mineral Carbonation for Cement and Concrete (2nd MC3 Conference), organised by Japan Concrete Institute. The event will take place from 28 - 30 September 2026 at Takeda Frontier Science Hall at the University of Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan.
RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) is the leading technical university in Germany. RWTH exploits strong research networks and the intellectual curiosity of its staff to address bold scientific questions, transfer forefront knowledge and drive innovative discoveries that impact global challenges.
Among RWTH’s many institutes is The Institute of Building Materials (IBAC), one of the biggest institutes of construction materials science in Europe. IBAC's researchers specialise in novel binder formulations (supplementary cementitious materials and alternative binders), novel concrete concepts (e.g. textile reinforced concrete) as well as concrete repair solutions and research on corrosion processes.
The 2nd MC3 Conference will bring together researchers, engineers and industrial stakeholders from around the world to discuss the process of mineralisation, which is quickly emerging as one of the most important topics for achieving carbon neutrality in the cement industry. The event will also explore other novel topics in the field of mineral carbonation, for example, carbonation hardening of concrete products, CO2 activation of waste powders, direct air carbonation, etc.
Among the main speakers will be Dr. Surendra Shah, who has made extensive contributions in the field of material science and has revolutionised the way modern concretes are used worldwide. For the full list of topics and speakers, visit General information site of the conference.
Carbon4Minerals supports RWTH Aachen University's participation and looks forward to in-depth discussions about the conference’s insights and new perspectives.
